Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Steecky ("we," "our," or "us") is a macOS menu bar application developed by Steecky Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of Steecky.

Steecky is a locally-run application. It does not connect to any external servers operated by Steecky Labs. All content you create or capture — notes, tasks, clipboard history, code snippets, and quick links — is stored exclusively on your device using macOS-native storage mechanisms.

By using Steecky, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information We Do Not Collect

Steecky Labs does not collect, transmit, store, or have access to:

• Your notes, tasks, or any content you create
• Your clipboard history or copied items
• Your code snippets or quick links
• Any usage analytics or behavioral telemetry
• Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information through the app itself
• Location data
• Device identifiers beyond what is handled by the App Store

Information Handled by Apple

Steecky is distributed through the Mac App Store. Your App Store purchase and subscription are managed directly by Apple. Apple may collect information in accordance with their Privacy Policy. We receive only anonymous, aggregated data from App Store Connect (e.g., total download counts and sales figures) and have no access to individual user identities.

3. Local Data Storage

All data created within Steecky is stored locally on your Mac using macOS-native technologies, including Core Data and the app's sandboxed container directory. This data is:

• Private by default — only accessible to Steecky and to you
• Not synced to iCloud — Steecky does not use iCloud or any other cloud sync service
• Removable — you can export or delete your data at any time from within the app

If you delete Steecky from your Mac, your data remains in the app's sandboxed container on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. To remove it completely, also delete the app's container folder (~/Library/Containers/neighborhub.steecky). Any exported files you have saved elsewhere remain under your control.

4. Clipboard Monitoring

Steecky's clipboard history feature monitors your system clipboard to automatically capture items you copy. This monitoring:

• Runs locally on your Mac — no clipboard data is sent off-device
• Captures text, URLs, and images you copy from any application
• Can be paused at any time from the Steecky menu bar interface

App Exclusions

You can configure Steecky to exclude specific applications from clipboard monitoring. We recommend excluding password managers, banking apps, and any application that handles sensitive credentials. Items copied from excluded apps are never captured.

Image OCR (Pro Feature)

When Image OCR is enabled, Steecky processes images on-device using Apple's Vision framework to extract text. No image data or extracted text is sent to external servers.

macOS Permission

On recent versions of macOS, the operating system may prompt you to confirm clipboard access. Steecky's clipboard monitoring requires this permission to function. You may revoke it at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

5. Subscription & Billing

Steecky Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Mac App Store. The following subscription products may be offered:

• Steecky Pro Monthly — $3.99 USD per month, auto-renewing (1-month period)
• Steecky Pro Yearly — $39.99 USD per year, auto-renewing (1-year period)

New users may start a 7-day free trial directly in the app. No payment method is required to start the trial and nothing is charged automatically when it ends — Pro features are simply locked until you purchase a subscription. Paid subscriptions automatically renew until canceled in your Apple ID account settings.

All billing, payment processing, and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple. Steecky Labs does not receive, store, or process your payment information.

6. Third-Party Services

Steecky does not integrate with, share data with, or send data to any third-party analytics providers, advertising networks, or data brokers.

The only third party involved in the Steecky experience is Apple, through the Mac App Store distribution platform and the StoreKit subscription framework. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy.

7. Data Security

Steecky is distributed as a sandboxed macOS application. The App Sandbox is a macOS security technology that restricts the app's access to your system to only what is explicitly granted. Steecky requests only the permissions necessary to provide its features.

Because all data is stored locally on your Mac, the security of your Steecky data depends on the security of your Mac — including your login password, FileVault encryption, and macOS security updates. We recommend keeping your Mac up to date and enabling FileVault for full-disk encryption.

8. Children's Privacy

Steecky is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because Steecky does not collect personal information from any user, there is no special risk to children's data from the app itself.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice (for example, via an in-app notification or App Store release notes).

Your continued use of Steecky after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
