Release notes for Steecky on macOS

Version 2.3.70

Latest

Search everything at once, and take your data with you. Unified Search is free for everyone.

Added

  • Unified Search (⌘F) — search notes, tasks, clipboard (even text inside screenshots), snippets, and links in one place. Grouped, ranked results with highlighted matches that jump straight to the item. Free for all users.
  • Full Backup & Restore (Pro) — one click in Settings backs up everything into a single zip: readable files for notes, tasks, snippets, links, and clipboard (images included). Restore from a backup anytime, or re-import individual sections — imports now merge and skip duplicates instead of creating copies. Per-section export stays free.
  • Guided App Tour — a quick walkthrough of every section on first launch, with the sidebar highlighting each stop. Replay it anytime from Settings.
  • Export Notes — save any note as a .txt file from its menu or right-click, or select several and export them together as a zip.
  • Export Clipboard Items — select text and images in your clipboard history and export them; single items save directly, multiple items bundle into a zip.
  • Quick View for Links — see a link's full URL at a glance with copy and open shortcuts, so you always know where a link leads before opening it.
  • Compact Notes View — a new eye toggle in the Notes header hides content previews, handy for a tidier list or when you're sharing your screen.

Improved & Fixed

  • Editing a clipboard item now protects your unsaved changes — switching to another item asks whether to save, keep editing, or discard.
  • Free-tier limits are now applied consistently across Quick Links, Snippets, search results, and auto-added links.
  • Clipboard history limit options in Settings are now clearly locked on the free plan, which keeps its 10 most recent items — no more picking a limit that didn't apply.
  • If Pro lapses, the window size returns to the default and the Pro-only sizes show as locked, so Settings always matches the actual window.
  • Export filenames now include date and time (no spaces), so repeated exports never overwrite each other.
  • Returning to Search from a result is now instant — results are cached and refreshed after the transition.
  • Rate Steecky anytime from Settings or the menu bar icon.
  • Cleaner Notes header that stays consistent across all window sizes.

Version 2.2.63

The biggest Steecky update yet — two new ways to use Steecky without opening it, plus much smarter tasks.

Added

  • Snippet Placeholders (Pro) — add {{name}}, {{date}}, {{clipboard}} and more to snippets; custom tokens are filled in through a quick form on copy, and Helm/Jinja-style templates pass through untouched.
  • Quick Paste (⌃⌥V) — a popup at your cursor with your 10 most recent clipboard items in any app. Copy with ⌘1–⌘9/⌘0 or a click, switch between text and images with Tab, preview images on hover.
  • Quick Add Task (⌃⌥⌘T) — create a task from any app without opening Steecky. Type naturally: "call bob at 5pm".
  • Natural language dates — tasks understand "tomorrow 3pm", "next friday", "in 30m" when you type them.
  • Due-soon alerts — get notified before a task is due, with snooze and complete actions right on the notification.
  • Search shortcuts — jump straight into a section's search with ⌘⌥ shortcuts.

Improved & Fixed

  • Task rows expand with a click anywhere on the row, and due dates now include a time picker.
  • Smarter snooze and reminder rescheduling, with reminders cleaned up when tasks are trashed.
  • The What's New screen appears once after each update, and your Open at Login setting is preserved through updates.

Version 2.0

A ground-up visual refresh and a simpler way to try everything.

Added

  • Liquid Glass redesign — the whole app rebuilt with a translucent, native macOS look: glass cards, layered depth, and smooth animations.
  • 7-day free trial — try every Pro feature with no auto-converting subscription; the trial simply ends unless you choose to upgrade.
  • Clipboard OCR (Pro) — text inside copied images and screenshots becomes searchable.

Notes

  • Core features in every version: Notes with tags, Tasks with reminders and subtasks, Clipboard history, Code Snippets with version history, and Quick Links — all stored locally on your Mac.
